Doyle discusses Obama and youth vote
By Megan Orear
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle talked to the Wisconsin delegation this morning. Afterward, we had an almost exclusive interview with him about Obama and young voters.
Doyle said government would be more productive with Barack Obama as president. He said politicians like Russ Feingold and Hillary Clinton will finally be able to work with the administration instead of against them in order to enact their policies.
"It's going to be a whole new era in this country, and one that is going to be directed at solving problems," Doyle said.
Doyle said the youth vote could be the deciding vote in this coming election, and could even make the difference between a close race and a big win for Barack Obama.
According to Doyle, Obama appeals to the young people because he promises a future for the country and gives them the hope that he will lead this country in the right direction.
Obama has good communication skills, according to Doyle, and students can relate to him because he is culturally in-tuned.
Speculation has arisen that Doyle, a big Obama supporter, may work for Obama in a federal role if he wins the election. However, Doyle said today there is a small chance that will happen and he cannot think of a better job than Governor of Wisconsin.
Doyle said he is enjoying Denver and the convention.
"As far as the convention itself, it's been electric," he said.
