1.) The government in Sweden is saying that, due to the economy, keeping SAAB up and running is not a priority.

2.) The U.S. Military is deploying the “BigDogs” (four-legged robots that help transport supplies to remote bases) along with troops to fight terrorism in Afghanistan.

3.) Alaska’s Mount Redoubt volcano erupted overnight March 23rd.

4.) China’s activity on youtube.com hit zero leading the company to believe that China has blocked the website.

5.) People with only one set of ALDH2 enzymes are found unable to react in a defensive way to protect themselves from an increased risk of cancer when drinking alcohol. The issue with these enzymes is commonly found in those of Asian descent.

6.) Flash floods are plaguing North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. The weather is further complicated by snow piling on top of barricades.

7.) North Korea threatened to launch a missile which Hilary Clinton has declared a danger to the United States.

8.) AIG employees may not be all to blame for the company’s debts.

1.) Daily stresses often hinder sleeping habits. Many experts say most chronically sleep deprived adults do not even realize they are missing crucial sleep time.

2.) On-campus drivers will need to take alternative routes on main campus roads like University Avenue, Gorham Street, and Broom Street while the roads go under construction this spring and summer.

3.) A local fire on Monroe Street injured 2 residents. The cause is still unknown.

4.) Financier, Bernard Madoff, pleads guilty to charges for fraud, money laundering, perjury and theft. His plea carries a maximum sentence of 150 years in prison, with his court date set for June 16.

5.) A Baghdad homicide bomber kills 33 and leaves 44 wounded.

6.) With so much talk of drug issues and violence in Mexico, the Fox news cast reveals where vacationers should avoid this spring break and which places are safe.

Grass-mud horse has become a children's phenomenon in China, complete with a cartoon TV show, nature documentary, dolls, and a youtube video. The song, however, is found to have a double meaning in the Chinese language due to the pronunciation of the lyrics resembling curse words.

8.) The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoe at Bush during his December visit to Iraq is sentenced to 3 years in jail.

9.) Pakistan’s president, Asif Ali Zardari has banned meetings of 4 or more people for 2 weeks, which included a scheduled national protest march. Hundreds of political workers were arrested this Wednesday from defying the ban causing an increase of security regulation from military dictator, Gen. Pervez Musharraf. This ban may cause the tensions between Nawaz Sharif, a former prime minister. Sharif is considered by Washington to be less interested in detaining the insurgency in Pakistan.

Teen gunman, Tim Kretschmer shot several people at his former school and a nearby psychiatric clinic in Germany. His threats foreshadowing the event were discovered through an internet chat room conversation. Another gunman in Alabama went on a shooting spree earlier this week killing family members.
